Dear Friends,
The Cohoes Community Center is an independent,
multi-purpose, nonprofit organization that serves the
citizens of Cohoes and people of the surrounding Capital
District. For the past 39 years our continuing mission has
been to provide recreational, fitness, educational, and
vocational opportunities programs to the community at large.
As an independent nonprofit agency, we subsist solely
through fees that our programs generate and receive no
national funding. We are taking this opportunity to contact
you for your support in an effort to keep the Cohoes
Community Center a vibrant resource.
As we near our 40th Anniversary, we reflect back on four
decades of programming history that has benefited the
Capital District and adapted to meet the changing needs and
interests of those that we serve. Serving children as young
as 18 months of age to senior citizens, the Center
strives to provide programming for people of all ages. Youth
and working families make use of our child care and camp
programs. Teens enjoy a refuge from the streets engaging in
positive pursuits, such as weight training or basketball.
Adults unwind from their workday with a vigorous workout at
a judgment free affordable environment. Seniors especially
enjoy our programs, socializing with friends, rehabilitating
from an extended hospital stay, or just keeping their
doctors happy by staying active in our water aerobic
programs.More than just a
fitness facility, the Center serves as a multi-purpose
gathering place for the community at large and plays host to
a number of community and civic organizations such as: AAU
Basketball leagues, Youth Basketball, Soccer, Football,
Baseball /Softball leagues, and Boys & Girls Scout Troops.
We serve as a training location for the American Red Cross,
New York State Lifeguard testing, Cohoes Police Department,
and most recently the Cohoes Fire Department.
In the current economic climate, non-profi t agencies such as
ours, have felt the sting of this climate most
significantly. We are asking for your donation so that we
may continue to provide vital programming for the people of
the Capital District and continue to be a valued partner to
the worthy programs that make use of our facility.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Donations can
also be made through our website:
www.cohoescommunitycenter.org
using
PayPal,
MasterCard, Visa, or Discover.
On behalf of the Center’s members, guests, and
beneficiaries, we would like to thank you for your generous
support of our Center.
Gratefully,

John M. Doemel
